Coronavirus & Covid-19: All the things we have to know

Nowadays, Coronavirus is the most trending fact. The Coronavirus is causing Covid-19 disease pandemic. Our medical science doesn’t have a cure or vaccine for this disease. So the disease has become very alarming to our society. WHO has named the virus as Novel corona virus-2019 (nCOV-19).

What is Coronavirus?

Coronavirus is a single strand RNA virus and belongs to the family Coronaviridae. They are electron microscopic. The structure contains strain. The structure has an envelope which shows halo crown surrounding. Like other viruses coronavirus also can’t reproduce without getting into a host cell.

Coronavirus cause Covid-19

In the early days of the outbreak, the media persons were using the term “coronavirus” as the disease. It isn’t a disease itself but it can cause disease. So the world health organization (WHO) has named the disease “Covid-19”.

Covid-19 Symptoms

  • Fever, elevated body temperature
  • Dry cough
  • Fatigue or muscle pain
  • Breathing difficulties

Less common symptoms include:

  • Coughing up mucus or blood
  • Headaches
  • Diarrhea
  • Kidney failure

Spreading method of virus

The spreading methods of coronavirus is still a burning question. The first transmission was animal to human beings. But the later transmissions were local and human to human.

The virus can move from human to human by:

  1. Respiratory droplets — when a person sneezes or coughs.
  2. Direct contact with infected individuals.
  3. Contact with contaminated surfaces and objects.

The virus can survive for a certain period in the air after being sneezed or coughed.

Prevention & Treatment

Coronavirus is a hardy organism and They are effective at hiding from the immune system. As a result, we haven’t developed any reliable treatment system. And there is not any vaccine for Covid-19 disease till now. So it is better to prevent the disease by following some steps.

Take steps to protect yourself

Wash and clean your hand often. Try to use soap or hand sanitizer which contains at least 60% of alcohol. And avoid touching your face with unwashed hands because the virus infects in the face. Try to avoid public places. Avoid close contact with sick people. Use a face mask and Do not travel.

Take steps to prevent spreading

  • Frequently disinfect the surfaces which are touched mostly.
  • Stay home if you are feeling sick
  • Cover while sneezing or coughing.
